1. What caused you to follow the group of Polly and her friends when you first spotted them?
2. How is life alone with just your mean and druken father?
3. Why would you let yourself go through pain just to let some strangers have a chance at being free?
4. What was your first reaction when your father found your hidden group?
5. Would you help slaves gain freedom again if you were given the chance? Explain why.
1. Their little group intrigued me and I wanted to see what was up. I wanted to see if I could help the people.
ReplyDelete2. It's rather horrid but it could be worse. I could be a slave or maybe even a runaway.
3. I don't like slavery to begin with so why let it go on when I could help someone?
4. I thought we were all going to be dead, for sure.
5. Yes I would since they don't deserve the treatment they get. They really do deserve better treatment than they do get.

1. I saw Polly and I thought she was beautiful and I wondered what they were up to. I also could tell that she was an indentured girl and that she was with slaves. I really wanted to help her.
ReplyDelete2. I spend most of my time away from him. So I am not really affected by him.
3. I think what little pain I went through was worth their freedom. I don't think of slaves the same way people like my father do. I still believe they are people.
4. At first, I thought he was going to kill them, but then I knew he would probably sell them for money. Money is all he cares about.
5. Yes, because it felt really good to go against my hateful father and I felt better about myself for saving people's lives, if only for a little while longer.
